Jim Higgins Sorin Capital

Jim Higgins
Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Jim Higgins founded Sorin in 2004 and is Sorin’s Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to founding Sorin, Mr. Higgins was Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Bear Stearns’ CMBS/Commercial Mortgage business, responsible for all capital commitment, new issuance, securitization, secondary trading, structuring and research for CMBS, commercial mortgage whole loans and commercial real estate CDOs. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Higgins was a CMBS trader for Smith Barney and began his career as a commercial real estate lender for American National Bank, a subsidiary of First Chicago. Mr. Higgins earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas and a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.

Tom Digan Sorin Capital

Thomas Digan
Partner, Head of Portfolio Management and Trading

Thomas Digan joined Sorin in 2007 and is a Partner and Head of Portfolio Management and Trading. At Sorin, Mr. Digan has analyzed, traded and managed a wide range of products including CMBS, CMBX, credit default swaps, interest rate derivatives, and REIT equities.  Mr. Digan earned a B.B.A. in Management Entrepreneurship from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Digan holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and serves as Co-Chair of the CRE Finance Council (CREFC) CMBS Secondary Market Liquidity Task Force.

Dom Acrigarofalo Sorin Capital

Managing Director, Portfolio Manager

Dom AcriGarofalo joined Sorin in 2016 as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager and leads the firm’s CMBS/ CMBX Active Trading Strategy that was launched February 2017.  Before joining Sorin, Mr. AcriGarofalo was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at One William Street Capital Management, investing in CMBS, and prior to One William Street was a Vice President and CMBS trader at Goldman Sachs from 2004 to 2012. Mr. AcriGarofalo graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Computer Science and Economics.

Rick Murray Sorin Capital

Managing Director, Head of Equities

Rick Murray joined Sorin in 2017 as a Managing Director responsible for the firm’s real estate equity investment activities.  Prior to joining Sorin, Mr. Murray was CEO and Portfolio Manager of Midwest Advisors, a manager of long-short and long-only real estate equity security investment strategies.  Prior to founding Midwest Advisors, Mr. Murray spent six years at Hovde Capital Advisors LLC in Washington, D.C., a manager of financial services and real estate focused long-short equity and credit hedge funds. Mr. Murray also spent over seven years as an equity research analyst following the real estate sector for Raymond James & Associates, Inc.  Mr. Murray’s fundamental research and stock picking have been recognized by The Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, and Forbes, and he has appeared numerous times on financial and national news television programs such as CNBC’s Squawk Box, Morning Call, Kudlow & Company, Bloomberg, and The Nightly Business Report.  Mr. Murray graduated magna cum laude from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Finance and holds a Series 65 license from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Joel Jasinski Sorin Capital

Joel Jasinski
Managing Director

Joel Jasinski joined Sorin in 2005 and is a Managing Director. Mr. Jasinski focuses on research and analysis of CMBS and REIT securities. Prior to Sorin, Mr. Jasinski spent four years at GMAC Institutional Advisors as a senior Surveillance Analyst in that firm’s CMBS/commercial mortgage surveillance unit, Realpoint. At Realpoint, Mr. Jasinski was responsible for detailed credit analysis on a multi billion dollar portfolio of CMBS and commercial mortgage whole loans. Prior to GMAC, Mr. Jasinski worked for a combined eight years at National Penn Bank and Bernville Bank in Pennsylvania. During his banking career, Mr. Jasinski held positions as a real estate analyst, mortgage loan underwriter, and loan production manager. Mr. Jasinski earned an M.A. in Management from St. Joseph’s University of Pennsylvania and a B.B.A from Millersville University.

Tom Tam Sorin Capital

Partner, Chief Financial Officer

Tom Tam joined Sorin in 2004 and is Sorin’s Chief Financial Officer and a Partner. Mr. Tam previously worked at Tiger Management as a Fund Controller where he had extensive exposure to a broad cross-section of investment products including equities, fixed income, options, futures, foreign currency forwards, equity and fixed income derivatives and private placements. Mr. Tam was also a Supervising Senior Accountant for American Express Tax & Business Services (formerly Goldstein Golub Kessler & Co.) where Tiger was among his clients. Mr. Tam began his career with Grant Thornton as an auditor. Mr. Tam has over twenty years total of public accounting and hedge fund experience and graduated from Pace University with a B.B.A. in Public Accounting.

Neil Casey Sorin Capital

Chief Compliance Officer, General Counsel

Neil Casey rejoined Sorin in 2015, having previously served as Sorin’s General Counsel from 2007 to 2011. Prior to rejoining Sorin, Mr. Casey was a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Group of White and Williams LLP, where his practice focused on investment management, regulatory compliance, and fund formation. Mr. Casey was also a Partner at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he advised issuers, underwriters, managers and investors in connection with CMBS, ABS, and other finance and capital markets transactions. Mr. Casey earned a J.D., Order of the Coif, from UCLA School of Law and an A.B. in Economics, with Distinction, from Stanford University. Mr. Casey is a member of the Connecticut and New York State bars.

Kimberly Mhanna Sorin Capital

Vice President, Investor Relations

Kimberly Mhanna joined Sorin in 2017 and is a Vice President responsible for investor relations and business development.  Previously, Ms. Mhanna was a Vice President of Business Development at Kerrisdale Capital, an event-driven long/short equity hedge fund.  Prior thereto, she was Chief of Staff at Gemini/Winklevoss Capital Management, a Bitcoin/USD exchange.  Ms. Mhanna began her career working in portfolio manager selection at Millennium Management and manager research at Prelude Capital, a managed account platform.  Ms. Mhanna earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California and is a Level II Candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
